1. Rapid test
assays identify, confirm or rule out disease in symptomatic
cats and dogs by detecting antibodies or antigens.
2.
Both antigen and antibody tests are highly sensitive and specific. Antigen tests
compare favourably with molecular tests, whilst the antibody tests compare well
with ELISA tests.
3. These tests are
ideal to detect and monitor the incidence or prevalence of disease
in animal populations or during epidemics.
4. Tests
can be done on-site and provide results within minutes.

Rapid tests assist the veterinarian to make a more
informed clinical diagnosis, specially where similar symptoms are caused by
different pathogens.
5. The tests are simple use, easily
interpretable, require minimal equipment or training and are as such ideal in
low-resource settings.
6. All that is required is a few drops of blood,
plasma or serum. Our screening kits require little or
no processing.
7. With a shelf-life of about 18 months from the
date of manufacturing, tests can be stored at room temperature.
